What The New Testament Church Prayed For

One of the main things I would like to see is that the First Baptist Church of Bell Gardens becomes a church that realizes we are dependent on God for everything.  We really can’t do anything apart from the work of God in us and around us.

A big part of prayer is acknowledging that God is in control and we are not.  We bow before God’s throne and admit our own powerlessness.  And it’s in our powerlessness that God is most powerful.

With that thought in mind, I found this article by John Piper.  It’s called “What the New Testament Church Prayed For.”  It’s a list of the things that Jesus said we should pray for, and the things the early church prayed for.  It really challenged me to expand my own prayer list, and to trust God even more.
