Welcome!

Hi!  Welcome to the website for the First Baptist Church of Bell Gardens, California.  Our congregation is made up of many different people, from many different backgrounds.  You’re likely to see many different ethnic groups represented at our gatherings.  We have young people, and not-so-young people.  Some of our people are married, some are single.  Some folks have little formal education, while others have advanced college degrees.  Our people come from many different income levels.

The one thing that binds us together is the fact that God loves us.  In fact, the Bible says that He loves us so much that He brought us into His family, and made us His children.  (How did He do that?  Click here.)  You see, despite our external differences, we share one important thing in common: God’s Spirit, working in us to make us more like Jesus.

Jesus said that the greatest way we can spend our lives is to love Him with everything we have.  Our goal is to honor God in all that we do.  We do that by praising Him for who He is, and for all He’s done for us.  We bring Him our needs in prayer, and trust Him to care for our needs.  We teach His truth as found in His word, the Bible.

Jesus said that the second greatest way we can spend our lives is to love our neighbor the same way we love ourselves.  We show our love for each other by sharing the joys and sorrows of our lives.  We pray for each other, encourage each other, love each other, and support each other.  We work to make sure that those in our community that don’t know Jesus have the opportunity to hear the Good News of salvation through Christ’s death and resurrection.
